Moooo to you report.....

Hello everyone! Guess what came to our house last night at 2:30am?! Yes, that's right cows!! We have seven baby cows.! I am sure that you are wondering where we got them and why, so I will start at the beginning and tell you all about it...

Last Sunday my Uncle called us and said he wanted to bring us two cows. We were very suprised but after some study we said....ummm....well....ok......we would take them. They would all be drop calves so they were very cheap. For those who do not know, 'drop calves' are calves that come from a dairy. The Dairy breeds the mothers so they can get the milk (of course) and they don't want the babies so they either give them away or sell them very cheap (like $10 each). So, he said he would bring them up soon. Well he called yesterday after dinner and said he was on his way. Because of the long drive he did not get here until about 2:30am. We all (yes the little kids too) got up and helped get the cows out of the truck and into the shed we got ready for them the day before. We got all but two into the shed and they stated jumping about and pushing us for food. The two we did not get out of the truck were sick so we left them in the truck until we could try again tomorrow, or should I say in the morning. At about 7:30 in the morning we went out to feed them. The ones in the shed ate just fine and we all had a good time feeding them, even though they were a bit pushy. The two in the truck did not eat to well. We think the smaller of the two might be hot calves. Again for those how do not know a hot calf is a calf whose mother was give a fattener feed, and that feed makes it so the calf's insides are all...well burnt up so they will just die. Something like that......But the dairy said if it dies they will give us a new one for free. The other one we, well I think will be OK it we get it dry, warm and more food in it. But again if it does not we will get another for free. So that is about all I have to say at the time. If you have any questions please leave a comment. Here are some of the picture we took. I will try to update once a week on our new cows. Here they are...
This is Batman (see the mark on his forehead)...This is Pepper....And this is Salt.....This is V.......And here is Tiny..........This is one of the sick ones so we have not named it, it's the one we think is a hot calf.........And the other sick one, the one we/I think will make it.........Here are the bottles we use to feed them, they hold about 2 quarts if I remember right. The calf should eat about a quart a day, twice a day at first. You have to be very careful not to over feed them because that will kill them.............Some feeding pictures............ And just some cute ones...

OK that is all.
